The Cook family started in the transport industry in the late 1800’s when the Great Grandfather of the current Managing Director bought his first horse and cart. Elddis Transport (Consett) Limited was founded by the company Chairman, Geoffrey Cook in 1971 with 6 vehicles and 11 trailers. The company has grown from those humble beginnings and currently operates over 160 vehicles and 280 trailers from seven locations in the UK, with the headquarters still based in Consett, Co. Durham. The company’s distinctive livery is seen throughout the UK transporting goods for many of the major UK consumer goods manufacturers. The fleet is made up of both articulated and rigid vehicles, which are mainly Mercedes-Benz, but also include a number of Iveco, Volvo and MAN vehicles.
