Today JCB is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of earthmoving, agricultural and materials handling equipment. The company that began as a ‘one man band’ in 1945 by Joseph Cyril Bamford now employs thousands of people and operates in four continents producing quality vehicles all bearing the famous logo and distinctive yellow livery. Introduced in 1963, the JCB 3C Mk1 Backhoe Loader marked JCB’s arrival as a major market leader in the construction industry. The JCB 3C was powered by the same Fordson Super Major tractor skid as its predecessor the JCB 3, but it was larger than longer digging arms and a more spacious cab. With a maximum reach of 18ft and maximum digging depth of 13ft the JCB 3C continued in production until replaced in 1968 by the MkII range.
