The Land Rover was originally created by the Rover car company as a quick way of getting production moving after the war. Sadly Rover ceased to make cars in 2005, but that initial ‘stop-gap’ has inspired a successful and continuing family of vehicles, which currently runs to five basic types. This two-model set depicts the first and last of the Series 1 Land Rovers made: HUE 166, chassis number R-01, produced March 11th 1948 CYJ 573, chassis number 36104122, produced July 16th 1953. This set will be limited to 1758 pieces, the quantity of 80′ Land Rovers made during the first year of production, 1948.
