Sussex Police have a long tradition of using sporting cars in their traffic division and these have included Mk1 and Mk2 Lotus Cortinas, MGB GTs, Triumph Dolomite Sprints and Ford Capri’s. The traffic car modelled is a Mk3 Capri in late model 3.0S form, one of the last ‘Essex’ V6 engined cars, which were replaced in 1981 by the ‘Cologne’ engined 2.8i V6 model. This car was restored to Police livery by a serving Sussex Police officer several years ago.
