The well-established Scottish Livestock Haulier started as Ian A Murrie in April 1985 when Ian purchased a DAF 2300 from George Walker who was retiring from Haulage. In this he was given his first livestock job by John Sourly from Stirling who played a major role in getting Ian established, as did John Eddie from Eddie Bros Transport, who allowed Ian to use their premises and gave him a lot of straw and hay-loads to transport. He bought his first new lorry, a Scania 92m -6 wheeler, a year on in April 1986, as well as a Drawbar trailer from Peter .E. Bordoy His first livestock trailer was purchased in 2000. In 2006 Ian’s son Alan joined the firm and as well as driving a livestock trailer helps to arrange some of the firm’s work and has since become director. In 2008 three new trailers were purchased from Houghton Parkhouse, including the ‘Professional’ Livestock Transporter. In 2009 Ian A Murrie became a limited company, Ian Murrie Haulage Ltd, and the Scania R M18 COO, as modelled here, was put on the road in January 2010.
