Liverpool Corporation received 100 AEC Regents between 1948 and 1947. These buses were generally similar to Liverpool’s pre-war Regents, hosting AEC 7.7 litre engines and crash gearboxes. The Weymann bodies were supplied as basic frames with the bodywork being completed by the Corporation’s own staff at its Edge Lane Works. A233 was delivered to Liverpool’s Carriage Road Garage in November 1946 and was renumbered to A433 in January 1957 to make way for new Regent V’s. It was withdrawn from service in January 1965, whereupon it was converted for use as a mobile workshop before being elected for preservation in 1972. Now part of the Merseyside Transport Trust Collection (www.mttrust.co.uk), restoration continues and hopes to be completed soon.
