Founded on ‘Cheerful Service’, James Booth (Bolton) Ltd. started as coal merchants in the early 1900s, Using horse drawn trucks.By the early 60’s the average capacity of its vehicles had grown from 3 to 10 tonnes. In 1976 the Company acquired Harwood Quarry from which high quality brick shale was extracted. This operation continues today and the shale, as well as road salt, screed ash and coal are the main products carried by the firms fleet of around 20 bulk tippers.
