The name of Pickfords has long been associated with heavy haulage industry throughout the twentieth century. The Volvo F12 became one of the staples of the heavy haulage fleet, along with the Scammell Crusader in the 1980’s. This versatile vehicle appeared in both four wheel and six wheel configurations, both as a simple tractor unit and also with ballast boxes as a ballast tractor. In the 1980’s each division of Pickfords had its own divisional colour, red for household removals, light blue for overseas and white for heavy haulage. These colours were used on the waist bands on each division’s vehicle. C975 ARJ is seen here in its 1986 livery, along with trailer TM 2079, as operating out of their Enfield site.
