8NHP Showmans Scenic Road Locomotive No3912 ‘Dragon’ registration number 04485 was built in 1921/22 by the well-known West Country amusement caterers of Anderton and Rowlands. It was delivered to Plymouth early February ready for the forthcoming travelling season. Dragon was put to work with the Scenic Golden Dragon Ride and was accompanied by the Burrell’s Earl Beauty and Lord Nelson. These three large locomotives use haul and power the magnificent ride along with their wagons. This was a spectacular sight on the roads of the West Country and was a great advert for the company whilst on route to the various fairs. Over the years the Scenic Golden Dragons were rebuilt and for the 1928 season it became known as Anderton and Rowlands Diving Dolphins. At this time the locomotives were also re-lettered to advertise the ride. Dragon was again re-lettered in 1936 as the ride was once more modernised, this time Anderton and Rowlands Brooklands Racers owned by Mr Tom Chamberlain of Farcet, Peterborough and exhibited by Mr Bill Gale who still keeps her in the beautiful condition as we see her today. Dragon is a regular attraction at the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
