Corgi VA11305 Talbot Lotus Sunbeam – Moonstone

Talbot Sunbeam-Lotus rolling shells were produced in the same factory as other Sunbeams, Linwood in Scotland. The shells were then loaded on to car transporter lorries and taken, in batches, to Lotus’ dedicated new Sunbeam production facility at Ludham Airfield, ten miles north-east of Norwich and over 400 miles from Linwood! A group of only sixteen workers, who had been drafted from the main Lotus plant at Hethel, then modified and strengthened the bodyshell before fitting the Lotus engine, ZF gearbox and larger radiator. The finished cars were then sent to Chrysler’s Coventry facility for checking and delivery into the dealer network.
