The Canberra TT.Mk.18 was a target-tug variant of the B.2 converted by E.E. and Flight Refuelling. It was fitted with underwing pylons for two Rushton winches, one under each wing, employing sleeve or Rushton Mk 2 targets. The TT.18s were very distinctive with yellow and black stripes on the underside. The first conversion for the RAF flew on 14 April 1970 and joined the RAF’s 7 Sqn in the July of that year.The Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm flying target facilities unit was originally known as No.776 Fleet requirements Unit(FRU) and was based at Hurn, Bournemouth, in the late 1960s.
