The 1978 Mk3 Capri was only a facelift of the Mk2, but its shrouded headlights made the car look bang up to date again, especially when combined with the S model’s standard equipment: four spoke alloys, a boot spoiler, fishnet Recaro bucket seats and sidewinder’ S graphics. The optional vinyl roof and a paint colour chosen from Ford’s vivid ‘signal’ range only added to the car’s showroom appeal. However the 3.0S delivered on its promise of being a true driver’s car, providing muscular performance and entertaining, if slightly tail happy, handling in a package that could also accommodate a family.
