No European automotive shape screams the early seventies as loudly as the Mk3 Cortina. Those glorious ‘coke-bottle’ curved hips clothed genuine engineering progression, as the Mk3 offered double wishbone front suspension and the new more powerful belt driven overhead cam Pinto engine. It was also a remarkably refined car for its age, being one of the first truly mass produced vehicles to benefit from what would now be called an NVH (Noise Vibration and Harshness) development programme. In recent years the Mk3 has become something of a cult car as a whole generation of new owners find themselves wanting to wake up in 1973.
