Built in three different factories over a six year production run from 1975, the TR7 is often perceived as a failure compared to its illustrious ancestors. It certainly was a product of its time, US safety legislation looked set to outlaw the convertible, so the closed coupe seemed the best option, and its engine, unlike its predecessors’, was refined rather than raucous. However 112,375 examples were built, a far greater number than any other TR, and that flip headlight styling is now seen as retro-cool, making the TR7 very popular in the classic car world as a practical ‘daily driver’. Engine capacity: 1998cc Power: 105bhp @ 5500rpm Maximum speed: 109mph 0-60 mph: 9.1 seconds
